It is with great sadness and regret that we wish to announce the passing of Sheila Joan Tweedie of Far Hills, NJ on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Morristown Medical Center. Born in January of 1944, in Montreal Canada where she lived with her parents, Leith and Sheila, and brother, Colin, before moving to the small northern town of Sioux Lookout, Ontario until her graduation from Sioux Lookout High School. She then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba where she attended and graduated from nursing school at Winnipeg Hospital, as well as meeting and marrying her husband, John. Moving to Toronto after graduation, Sheila worked as a nurse in the Toronto Children's Hospital and gave birth to her son, Craig. Subsequent moves followed including time in Ottawa where their second son, Ryan was born. After many years of travel, the family settled in Chatham Township, NJ where the boys finished high school, and she became a successful breeder of Golden Retrievers and involved in the equestrian world. A final move brought them to a small farm in Far Hills, allowing her to expand her business and include the breeding, training, and showing of Norwegian Fjord horses.

Her civic mindedness led her to become a US citizen to enable her to successfully run for council in Far Hills Borough where she served for multiple terms. She also became heavily involved with the organization, Mane Stream Inc., in Oldwick, NJ, where she served on the board for many years and was instrumental in expansion of the organization that uses horses to provide both mental health and physical therapy for people with a wide range of challenges. Sheila continued to remain active in the community and equine world, including the Gladstone Equestrian Association and supporting the Junior Drivers Association.

She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Craig and his wife Terri, Ryan and his partner Shana; and grandchildren, John, Kate, Zoe, Flash, Emerson and Erin; and her brother, Colin and his wife, Sandy; along with a sizable number of longtime friends. Her drive, passion and enthusiasm will be missed.

The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to Mane Stream, Inc., P.O. Box 305, Oldwick, NJ 08858 (manestreamnj.org) or St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Avenue, Madison, NJ 07940 (sthuberts.org). Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.

Rhoda Lawenda died on January 14, 2026 at 96 years old.

She was born in New York City on September 4, 1929 to Anna and Harry Geller and grew up in the Bronx, where she graduated from Taft High School.

In 1949 at age 20, she married David Lawenda and they moved to River Edge, and then Oradell, NJ where they lived many years. In fact, Rhoda was such a native New Yorker that she didn't learn to drive until she moved to Oradell.

After David retired, they moved to Sarasota, Siesta Key, Florida, a place where they had friends and relatives and enjoyed the weather. They were married for 56 years until Dave passed away at 92 in 2015.

They had two children, James and Jamie, and four grandchildren, Molly, Patrick, Daniel and Nicolas. Later Rhoda had three great grandchildren, Juniper, Remy and Hazel. Rhoda was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and mother-in-law to Kathy and Lorenzo. Everyone loved her, and she loved all of them.

Rhoda was a terrific aunt to her various nieces and nephews, and a wonderful cousin to her cousins and their children. Everyone was welcome at the Lawenda house.

She loved to entertain and gave many dinner parties, and always put out a great spread. No one ever left hungry. While Rhoda believed quality was important, she valued quantity as well. Rhoda loved to shop. She was prolific, transferring that skill into careers at both B. Altman's and Nordstroms.

One interesting thing about Rhoda is that she had friends from every period of her life - from childhood, high school and Oradell, and later, Sarasota. Everyone always knew her wherever she went. She was an authentic person and never put on airs - what you got was Rhoda - the real thing. She was one of a kind.

Rhoda is remembered by all as beautiful, funny, generous, kind and caring. Always well put together with a great sense of style.

John Xavier Adiletta, age 77, of Bernardsville, New Jersey passed away on January 12, 2026.

Son of the late Joseph George Adiletta and Claire Fischer Adiletta, John was born in Westbury, NY and raised in Greenwich, CT, moving to Thompson, CT during his high school years. The eldest of six children, John valued family above all else. He was industrious, self-reliant and, as his stories often illustrated, unafraid to occasionally break the rules.

A graduate of Clark University, John became a respected business leader and seasoned executive with a long career of shaping and growing companies in the telecommunications, technology, and corporate services sectors. He was widely recognized for his vision, strategic leadership, and his ability to guide organizations through periods of growth and transition. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Aquis Communications Group, Inc., a company he co-founded and helped transform into a full-service telecommunications provider. He also served in executive leadership and director roles for a range of companies and was sought after for his sharp intellect, decisive manner, and extensive experience in operations, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance.

More than anything else, John was most proud of his two children, Joe and Julie. He never laughed harder or opened his arms wider than when he was with them. As they grew their own families, John delighted in their successes, the funny stories that always followed, and time spent with their partners and children. He loved nothing more than sharing a special meal together or thoughtfully helping them think through a problem.

John will be deeply missed by his son, Joseph (Erin) Adiletta; daughter Julie (Dave) Boyle; and grandchildren Lincoln, Amelia, Casey, Jasper, Damon and Maeve. He also leaves behind his beloved partner of twenty-five years, Barbara Baecht; and siblings, William (Susan) Adiletta, Patricia (Jeffry) Brigman, Joseph (Dawn) Adiletta, Mark (Debra) Adiletta, and Matthew (Karen) Adiletta. He is survived by seventeen nieces and nephews, about whom he enjoyed receiving updates; and his longtime friend and mother of his children, Lynn Szafran.

His family and friends will miss his exuberant hugs, his hearty laugh, and his appreciation for quantitative analysis. He was deeply loved.

Details regarding services and memorial arrangements will be shared family and friends. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Christmas is for Children/ Holiday Hope at https://www.holidayhopechildren.org/donations or to Holiday Hope, P.O. Box 214, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.

Barbara Nancy Buck Pyne died peacefully in her sleep at her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 101 years, 9 months and 25 days. In her own words, " I have had a wonderful life". She was right. Known as "Princess" for more than 75 years, she lived up to that name. Her style in decorating, which she described as "cold, hard and chic", even included a fabric she launched when she was 88 years old, "Pyne Hollyhock". Her carefully curated jewelry, hats and colorful outfits, which were renowned, were neither cold nor hard but certainly chic. Princess was an "Event" wherever she went.

A native of Far Hills, New Jersey her entire life, she was the eldest daughter of Leonard and Helen Buck. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, John W. Pyne; and her brother, Charles Austin Buck.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Bartlett; her son, M. Taylor Pyne (Elsie); her daughter, Holly Pyne Connor; 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Fearless, adventuresome and creative, she rode a camel in the Sahara at 90 and still drove her car at 95, much to the discomfort of her family. She was devoted to her many friends of many generations. As an extraordinary fundraiser, who was a force in the community, she led numerous successful charity events for the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills, the New Jersey Historical Society, The Newark Museum, and the Leonard J. Buck Garden, which was her favorite, as it was created by her father.

Donations in her name should be directed to the Leonard J. Buck Garden, 11 Layton Road, Far Hills, NJ 07931. A memorial service is planned for the spring, her favorite time of the year. Arrangement are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.

Mary Eileen (Sheehan) Layton of Far Hills passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 in the company of her husband and family. She was born in Jersey City in 1961 to Eileen (O'Donnell) Sheehan Ginn and the late Cornelius Sheehan.

Eileen faced life's challenges with gusto. At an early age, she participated in medical studies that helped rewrite the book on childhood development; and she went on to accomplish far more than anyone could have imagined. She attended the Maplebrook School in Amenia, NY where she made lifelong friends and awakened her love of art - a passion she pursued throughout her life, studying both privately and at the local college. Eileen graduated from Howell High School in 1981 alongside her proud brother, Sean.

In 1986, Eileen embarked on a new career at The Matheny Hospital and Educational Center in Peapack. During that time she met the love of her life, John Emmett Layton, Jr. They married and recently celebrated their thirty third wedding anniversary. Together they shared countless adventures from winter trips to Florida to follow the Yankees in Spring training, to attending conventions where they met the stars of classic television shows of her youth.

Eileen never stopped learning and growing; eventually writing, illustrating and publishing her own book, "My Yellow Fever". (Yellow was always her favorite color.) She also had a natural gift for technology. There was no electronic devise Eileen couldn't master. Social media allowed her to maintain friendships far and wide, spanning from childhood to work colleagues.

Though she faced serious health challenges in later years, including Parkinson's Disease, Eileen never gave up. She found faith and companionship with the Jehovah's Witnesses, members of whom remained with her to the end of her life.

Eileen is survived by her beloved husband, Johnny; her mother, Eileen Ginn; her sister, Alison Caruso; her sister-in-law, Carol Schmidt; and brothers, Neil (Beth), Sean (Sheree) and Rory. She will also be remembered by her nieces and nephews to whom she was always so kind.

A memorial service will be held at Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Saturday, October 4 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018 or at parkinson.org.

Rev. Paul Sartell Moore, Sr. passed into eternity on the evening of August 24, 2025 in Kingston, NY. Born to Rev. Sartell Prentice and Viola May (Pace) Moore on June 17, 1942 at Montclair Community Hospital, he was the last of five children. He spent his childhood years growing up in the churches his father pastored including those in Lewisburg, PA, Maine and New Jersey.

Out of high school, his career path was quite diverse; and as a young husband included everything from touring as the bass singer in a gospel quartet known as the "King's Keynotes", to operating a bar in Manhattan. In 1967 he found his true calling as a minister and with a note of support from his father, took on his first church in New Milford, NJ. Two years later, he founded the Maranatha Christian Center which soon became an epicenter of the "Jesus Movement". The young Rev. Moore became famous for inviting local garage bands to play for his growing congregation.

In the 1970's Rev. Moore established the Lamb's Church of the Nazarene in Times Square, purchasing the famous "Lamb's Club" on 44th Street and establishing a church and off-Broadway faith-based theater group. He was featured on many talk shows, newspaper articles, magazines like "Newsweek", and even hosted a television marathon on WPIX Channel 11 raising funds for the Lamb's Church. In the years that followed, Rev. Moore pastored New Life Church in Cupertino, CA; served at St. George's Episcopal Church in NYC; launched Resurrection Church in Manhattan, NY; and briefly served as rector at St. James Church Lake Delaware in Delhi, NY.

He also was personally asked to launch "Here's Life Inner City", a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ by Dr. Bill Bright. He served as National Director for several years and from that work, CitiHope Radio Ministry was founded. Launched in 1986 with his first wife, Sharon, CitiHope was known as a "compassionate connection" between those serving others in need and those with resources. At its height, the one-hour radio program aired 6 days a week with his young son, Paul, Jr., as co-host and field reporter.

In 1990, CitiHope Radio funded a mission trip to the former Soviet Republic of Belarus which was suffering the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster. Rev. Moore, Dr. Michael Christensen and Paul Jr. visited the "nuclear dead zone" and spent many hours by the bedsides of those impacted. It was so impactful that the Moore's decided to dedicate their lives to international aid. Paul Sr. led the organization as President and served as Chairman of the Board and fell deeply in love with his wife, Tamara, in Minsk, Belarus.

At the time he retired as president, CitiHope Relief & Development had delivered over $ 500 million in aid around the world. Today, the ministry continues with his "dear brother" Tim Tuccelli as Chairman and Paul Jr. as President/CEO and has delivered over $ 2 billion in medicine, food, and educational aid to 50 countries on 5 continents, including his beloved second home country of Dominican Republic. Of all the great and wonderful impacts his life has had, there were none so important to him as what the Sanar una Nacion alliance has done and continues to do throughout Dominican Republic.

Paul Sr. and his wife, Tamara, have served in multiple ministries together. She was an integral part of his work the past three decades. They also founded Plantacion de Cacao del Eden, an organic farm in Dominican Republic that produces world famous cacao beans and other produce and promotes eco-tourism and sustainable farming practices. As Paul Sr. fought cancer, Tamara and he faced it together with grace, positivity, and good humor. He smiled big and was filled with bright-eyed joy to the very end of his life here on this side of heaven.

Paul Sr. was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Esther May Hilkert, and her husband, Warren Hilkert; his brother-in-law, Dale Hilkert; and his twin brother and sister who were stillborn.

He is survived by his eldest sister, Miriam Hilkert (94 years old); his beloved wife, Tamara; his daughters, Sheri Dawn Swartz, and her husband, Greg, and Cathi Diane Mastrorocco, and her husband, Joseph; his son, Fr. Paul Sartell Moore II and his wife, Jessica; stepsons, Dmitri (Katya) Temkin and Gleb Temkin; along with 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A funeral service, burial and reception will be held on Friday, August 29 at Pottersville Reformed Church, 2090 Black River Road, Pottersville beginning with a viewing from 12:00pm to 1:00pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00pm. Following the burial in the church cemetery, a reception will be held in the Community House. A memorial service and feast celebrating his life will also be held at St. James Church Lake Delaware in Delhi, NY on September 27 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to CitiHope Relief & Development at www.citihope.org. Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.

Lucas (Luke) Matcham of The Hills, Bedminster passed away suddenly on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the age of 44.

Luke was born in Cambridge (UK) in 1980 and came to live in Bridgewater, New Jersey when his family moved here in 1988. Luke attended the Bridgewater Township schools through high school. He was an excellent student and a very strong soccer player. In his senior year, the Bridgewater Raritan High School Soccer Team became joint NJ State Champions (Group 4) with Luke playing almost every minute of the season in the sweeper role, providing a solid foundation for the players in front of him, and earning County and State level recognition.

After high school, Luke went on to study at Rutgers University receiving a degree in Psychology in 2006, with a minor in Administration of Justice. After Rutgers, Luke moved to Boston and worked as the marketing lead in a start-up, partnering with a friend to develop on-demand, on-line tutorials for college students, a pioneering concept back in the late 2000's. After Boston, Luke moved back to New Jersey and lived in Somerset, Franklin Township for about ten years before moving to Bedminster. During this time Luke developed a passion for live theater and participated in amateur productions across Central Jersey.

Luke is survived by his mother, Lorna Matcham, and his brother, David Matcham, both of Bedminster; as well as his father, George Matcham, and his wife, Wei Matcham, both of Cranbury, and their daughters (Luke's sisters), Angela Matcham of San Francisco, CA and Emily Matcham, presently of Cambridge, UK.

Luke was a beloved cousin, nephew, grandson and sibling of family across Europe, Australia and America. He was solid and reliable as a friend, as a family member and as a teammate. The tributes now coming in remember Luke as honest and kind, with a gentle soul. He will be sorely missed.

A private family service was held under the direction of Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or at www.heart.org.

Phyllis "Gaye" (Rust) Waage of Martinsville, NJ passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She is survived by her husband, C. Marc Waage; her three children, Phillip Waage, Marcia Waage McBurney (Jonathan) and Douglas Waage (Frida); five grandchildren, Justin, Sean (Riley), and Matthew McBurney, and Olivia and Carter Waage; and a sister, Joyce Viets.

Born March 18, 1942 in Arkansas City, Kansas, Gaye grew up in Arkansas City and Topeka. She attended Topeka High School and was a member of the marching band and choir. She attended Kansas State University and met her husband, Marc, on a blind date. The couple were married on January 27, 1962 in Manhattan, KS. After living in Kansas and Tacoma, Washington they finally settled in Parsippany, NJ in 1966 to begin raising their family. The family moved once more to Bridgewater, NJ in 1977 into the Waage family homestead.

Gaye was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her life, raising her children and helping to raise her grandchildren. She could always be found in the front row of every one of their performances, usually before everyone else. Grandma Gaye, GMa for short, was her favorite title. She tended to adopt other children into her circle giving them the same love and care that she gave her own. Many of her hours were spent in the car taking her children and grandchildren to all of their activities and friends' homes. She was always the first volunteer chaperoning ski trips, class trips and marching band trips.

In her spare time, she was an avid bridge player, playing in many bridge clubs over the years, the relationships as important as the games. As her children were in school, she was a member of the PTO and served as President many times. She loved to travel visiting Russia, Greece, Hungary, London, Netherlands, Canada, Bermuda and all over the United States. Church played a large role in her life, being an active member of the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon, rang handbells in the Chapel Ringers and sang in the Sanctuary Choir.

Gaye was the ultimate hostess at her home where she hosted picnics for the Martinsville Fire Department and Rescue Squad, the Hillside teachers, Bridgewater East Marching Bands, BR Choir program and so many more. Her annual Christmas parties were legendary.

The viewings will be held Friday, May 30th from 6 to 8 PM at Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster, NJ 07921 and Saturday, May 31th from 9 to 10:45 AM at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, 279 Route 202/206, Pluckemin, NJ 07978 with the memorial service to follow at the church at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Pluckemin Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Pluckemin Medical Equipment Ministry (https://ppcmem.org/support-us/financial-contributions) or St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital (stjude.org) or the Fellowship Home Care & Hospice (fellowshiplifeinc.org/foundation/plan).
