Barbara Burnet, 98, of Florham Park passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Sunrise Brighton Gardens at Florham Park.
She was born in Morristown on May 21, 1927, a daughter of the late Ola and Lola Perry Burd. She grew up in Far Hills and cherished her childhood there. She lived in Neptune, Butler for 20 years, and Edgewater, FL for 20 years before moving to Florham Park in December 2023.
Barbara was a 1945 graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville.
She was employed as a secretary for an insurance company in Newark early in her working career. Later, she was employed first as a security agent, and then, as a buyer for Meyer Brothers in Wayne for 10 years. While living in Florida, she volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Red Ribbon Boutique both in New Smyrna Beach into her early nineties.
Barbara loved shopping, enjoyed politics and was very patriotic.
She was predeceased by two husbands who both served as World War II veterans; James F. Mullin who died September 29, 1985 and Frederick Burnet who died in June 2009.
Mrs. Burnet is survived by 2 sons, Steve Mullin and his wife, Karen, of Butler and James S. Mullin and his wife, Paula Maltempi, of New Smyrna Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren, Eric Mullin and his wife Jessie, Keri Giacomelli and her husband Anthony, Kyle Mullin and his wife Jackie, Sean Mullin and his fiance Dania Ortiz and Carley Mullin; and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral service at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Tuesday, May 19 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Bedminster Reformed Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
