Mary M. Enyingi, 77, of Branchburg passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at her home.
She was born in Jersey City on December 5, 1948, the only child of the late Anabell Osborne. She grew up in Bedminster and had lived there until moving to Branchburg 25 years ago.
Mary was a 1967 graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville and a graduate of Berkeley Secretarial School in New York City.
She was a medical secretary employed by Sanderson Law Firm in Bernardsville. Later, she worked as the welfare director for seniors in several Somerset County towns including Bedminster, Far Hills, Bernardsville, Basking Ridge and Peapack – Gladstone for many years. When the position was taken over by the State, Mary worked as a social worker employed by Somerset County for homeless placement. She was also the director of Kirkside House in North Branch, a ministry of the North Branch Reformed Church before retiring.
Mary was a member of the Branchburg Women’s Club and a member of the North Branch Reformed Church. She volunteered for 20 years with the VNA Rummage sales in Far Hills and the North Branch Reformed Church rummage sales which benefited Kirkside House.
She was predeceased by her mother, Anabell Osborne who died in 1958 and by her aunt, Margaret Osborne in 2001 who helped raise her.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Peter N. Enyingi who were high school sweethearts; by a sister-in-law, Carolee Philhower and a nephew, Richard Philhower both of Bedminster.
Funeral service at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Tuesday, September 1 at 12:00pm. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A private burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Branchburg Rescue Squad, 113 River Road, Branchburg, NJ 08876.
