Robert A. Stephenson, 92, of Annandale passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at his home.
He was born in Orange on June 4, 1934, a son of the late John F. Sr. and Mabelle Eckert Stephenson. He had resided in Pottersville and Oldwick before moving to his home in Annandale 30 years ago in the complex he built.
Bob was a graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville and attended Rutgers University.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War having served from 1953 to 1955 attaining the rank of corporal.
Mr. Stephenson was an electrical and general contractor having owned and operated Sentry Electric, Inc. established in 1965 and Stephenson Associates, Inc. established in 1969, both of Bridgewater, before retiring in 2013.
Being very civic-minded and wanting to give back to the greater community, Bob gave of his time to several organizations including; founder and member of the Whitehouse Rotary Club, founder and member of the Hunterdon County 200 Club, member of the Pottersville Volunteer Fire Company, a 35 year member of the National Ski Patrol, member of the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers, member of Gem Vac Veterans Association of Glen Gardner, and served as a board member of the Hunterdon County YMCA of Flemington.
He was predeceased by his three siblings; John F. Stephenson, Jr. who died in 2020, Wayne E. Stephenson who died in 2014, and Margaret Alice McCulloch who died in 2013.
Mr. Stephenson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor Metzler Stephenson; 2 sons, Kevin J. Stephenson and his wife, Yesh, of Lebanon and Robert A. Stephenson, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Rumson; 2 grandchildren, Isabelle Stephenson and Kyle Stephenson; and 12 nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life visitation and reception will be held at the Oldwick Fire Company, 163 Oldwick Road, Oldwick from 1:00pm to 5:00pm with a memorial service at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 24th.
