Tribute to my brother

Posted by Kelsey C Maki on August 18, 2023

Rick was a pleasure to know and work with. He was always positive and kind. My heartfelt condolences to Megan, their children and all of Rick's family.

I have had the great honor of working with Rick for over ten years. Rick was always the smartest colleague and brightest light in the room. He always set the example for dedication and professionalism, but more importantly, he demonstrated through his daily actions how we all should live. He was kind, gentle, thoughtful, humble, and a superb listener. I would tell Rick that he was one of the reasons that I am working at the bank. I want to work with people who I trust, who inspire me, and who make me a better person. Rick was “that guy.” Rick changed our lives for the better in profound ways. Like a pebble tossed into a still pond, his positive impact ripples through our lives, and will continue to guide us in our own life’s journey. He lived his Christian faith each day. We all miss Rick dearly, but his legacy will live on through his amazing family and through all those whose lives he changed. I offer my sincere condolences to Megan, Ricky, Riley, and Rick’s extended family.

Ricky has a kind and gentle soul, a fabulous sense of humor, and a sharply analytical mind. None of us will ever understand the “why” of this catastrophic loss, but we can honor Ricky by making the world a kinder and more humane place. Let’s pay tribute to his spirit by seeing the best in people; sharing the kindness that is in our hearts; being slow to judge and quick to forgive; showing genuine empathy and deep concern for others; engaging in good works and helping those in need; listening more than we speak; respecting others who hold different views; carefully examining all sides of an issue before reaching a conclusion; empowering and encouraging everyone to live their best lives; taking every opportunity to say “I love you.” Ricky, You have touched so many lives, and now your radiant and magnificent spirit will be manifested in every act of kindness and every good deed—small and large—that we perform in your honor. We miss you. We love you. Always and forever. Love, Your big sis (Katrina)
