Monique Dori was born in Paris, France on August 25, 1931 to Pauline Aisenmann and Joseph Veisbrot. They lived in Antwerp, Belgium and later, during the war, moved back to Paris.
Monique lost her mother at the age of 12 and was raised by catholic nuns in a monastery in the south of France. She later moved to Israel, where she studied to be a French kindergarten teacher, met her husband, Haim Dror Dori at Kibbutz Ginegar, and later gave birth to her only son, Ariel.
They moved to New York City in 1963 where she worked for Georg Jensen, Merin, Hermes, and for the last 20 years at REDS (Resurrection Episcopal Day School).
Monique provided immeasurable richness to the fabric of the school community during her time there. Her lessons were joyful and entertaining for the children with her focus on French language acquisition and cultural exposure. She demonstrated unmatched commitment and dedication and she derived great pleasure from her work, evidenced by the focus on building positive relationships with the students in her class and the connections that she created with students and colleagues alike. She has been an asset to the community for many years.
During the last 2 years, Monique moved to Bedminster, NJ to be with her son, Ariel, his wife, Chrysanthi, and her grandchildren, where she enjoyed spending time with her family and nature. Monique passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 in her apartment in New York City. She is survived by Ariel, Chrysanthi, and her 4 grandchildren, Jonah, Ryan, Monique and Ari.
