Kenneth C. Doll, 79, of Palmyra, VA passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.  He was visiting his son’s family to celebrate an early Christmas which he thoroughly enjoyed.

He was born in Jersey City, NJ on July 16, 1944, a son of the late Lester Dickson Doll and Theodora Kopf Doll.  He had resided in Millington, NJ and Annandale, NJ before moving to Palmyra, VA in 2009.

Mr. Doll was a 1970  graduate of Rutgers University receiving his bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a 1974 graduate of Seton Hall University receiving his MBA degree in Corporate Finance.

Mr. Doll was a financial analyst employed by Schering Plough Corp., now part of Merck Corp., in Kenilworth, NJ for 24 years before retiring.  He also worked for CBS and American Express in his early years.

In retirement, Mr. Doll enjoyed boating, wine tasting, clay bird shooting and travel..  He was quick to make friends and he always enjoyed telling a good story or joke; his repertoire and delivery were remarkable.

Mr. Doll enjoyed volunteering in his community, raising funds for the Lake Monticello Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and nieces and nephews and their children.

He was predeceased by his brother, Lester D. Doll, Jr, who passed away in July 2023; and by two nephews, Joseph Doll and Brian Doll.

Mr. Doll is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary Doll; a son, Kenneth Doll II and his wife, Tracy, of Vienna, VA; a daughter, Allison Thiriez and her husband, Stephane, of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren, Evelyn Doll, James Thiriez and Andres Thiriez; and by many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service and interment will be held at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Washington Valley Road, Bedminster, NJ on Saturday, January 6 at 1:00pm.  Relatives and friends are asked to gather at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church parking lot (south side), 279 Route 202 – 206, Bedminster, NJ by 12:50pm and then join the procession to the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.  Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.
