John Spohler, 93, of Bedminster, NJ died on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at home surrounded by family and friends.

John was born January 21, 1928 in Mt. Vernon, NY, the only son of Margaret and Reinhard Spohler.

He served as first lieutenant in the US Army from 1950 – 1953.  He graduated from Columbia University earning a BA and MBA.  While attending Columbia he met his first wife, Muriel Jean Magnusson, with whom he had three children, Linda, Diedra and Bruce Spohler.  Following her death, he married Joanne Evans Seebold and had two children, Brenda Proscia and Jana Spohler-Herndon.

John was in his early teens when he started working at his first job, after school and weekends, as a stock and delivery boy in his father’s delicatessen.  He worked as a financial advisor for sixty-six years starting at Van Alstyne, Noel & Co. where he rose to partner.  He retired as managing director from JP Morgan in 2020 at the age of 92.  John was devoted to his clients.  He built long-standing relationships with them founded on trust and friendship.

His love of learning and finding attractive investments took him into the world of racehorse breeding as well as developing and managing a full service boarding stable.

John will be remembered for his commitment to family, his quick wit, generous spirit and zest for life.

He is survived by his five children, eleven grandchildren, ex-wife Joanne Spohler, and life partner Wilma Lew.
