John Milito, 91, of Liberty Corner passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his home.

He was born in Liberty Corner on November 4, 1932, one of nine children to Luigi and Concetta Rispoli Milito.  He had been a lifelong resident of Liberty Corner.

John was a 1951 graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville.

He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951 to 1955 attaining the rank of corporal.

Mr. Milito was a carpenter employed by his brother, Jim Milito Builders in Liberty Corner for over 50 years retiring well into his seventies.

He was a member of the Manville Elks Lodge No. 2119 and a communicant of St. James RC Church in Basking Ridge.  John was an avid hunter and gardener and enjoyed woodworking projects in his home.  He also enjoyed Friday night poker gatherings with family.

Mr. Milito is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Suiter Milito; a daughter, Kathy Lewandowski and her husband, Zack, of Little Egg Harbor; a son, Louis Milito and his wife, Katie, of Liberty Corner; 2 grandchildren, Anthony Milito and his wife, Sam, of Bernardsville and Kaeleigh Milito of Dillon, MT; a great granddaughter, Lucia Milito; 2 sisters, Jacqueline DeMarco of Bernardsville and Connie LaRue of Bridgewater; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral gathering at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Thursday, June 27 at 9:30am  followed by a mass at St. James Church, Basking Ridge at 10:30am.  Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.  Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Garden State Hospice, 8000 Fellowship Road, Basking Ridge, NJ  07920 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
