Jeane L. McEntee, 97, of Basking Ridge passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville.

She was born on November 24, 1925 in West Chester, PA, a daughter of the late Carl and Frieda Specht Hoeffer.  She grew up in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY and had lived in Chatham Township and Summit before moving to Basking Ridge in 1975.

Jeane was a graduate of Richmond Hill High School  and studied at Hunter College in New York.  She was graduated from both the New York School of Interior Design and the Pratt Institute.

She was a self-employed interior designer for many years.  She also worked at Trabert & Hoeffer Jewelers in New York City.

Jeane was an avid painter, having been an Edgar Whitney teacher, and was an avid quilter and embroiderer as well.

She attended St. Bernard’s Episcopal Church in Bernardsville.  She loved the beach and enjoyed traveling.

Jeane was predeceased by her husband, Jansen A. McEntee Jr., and by her sister, Marion Allen.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie J. McEntee of Basking Ridge; her son, Jansen A. McEntee III of Virginia Beach, VA; and two grandchildren, Jansen A. McEntee IV and Mikenna McEntee.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be  made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodlawn Avenue, Madison, NJ  07940.  Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.
