Barbara Starr, 71, of Bedminster passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown.

She was born in Saddle Brook on September 25, 1951, a daughter of the late Raymond A. and Lois M. Dripps Starr.  She grew up in Ringwood and had lived in Madison before moving to Bedminster in the early 1980s.

Barbara was a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Muhlenberg, PA receiving a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

She was a senior insurance agent employed by Allstate Insurance Company in East Hanover for 30 years retiring 20 years ago.

Barbara was a longtime member of the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and Deacon.

She was an avid supporter of several animal organizations including Friends of the Shelter, Safe and Sound, and the Humane Society.  She was the dog mom to her beloved Charlie for many years.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 23 years, Paul J. Gucker; a step-son, David F. Gucker of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a step-daughter, Kristen P. MacLean and her husband, Steve, of Oxford; a brother, David Starr of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Gail Hruby of Little Egg Harbor; and 5 step-grandchildren, Jett, Rex and Ace Gucker and Carson and Lexi MacLean.

A memorial service will be held at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, 279 Route 202 – 206, Bedminster on Saturday, February 25 at 11:00am.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may  be made to IMSMP, 521 West 57th Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY  10019 or at imsmp.org.  Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.
