William R. Wilkie, 62, of Far Hills passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown.

He was born in Morristown on May 21, 1960, the youngest son of the late William H. and Dorothy Drake Wilkie.  He grew up in Far Hills and had lived in Chester for 22 years before moving back to Far Hills 6 years ago.

Bill was a graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville.

Mr. Wilkie was a carpenter who owned and operated William Wilkie Carpentry of Far Hills for 30 years.

Bill loved football and was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan.  He enjoyed riding his quad in the woods around his home.  In earlier days, he played on a softball league representing The Station in Bernardsville.

In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his wife, Leslie C. Gess Wilkie, who died April 12, 2011.

Bill is survived by his brother, Alexander S. “Alex” Wilkie of Far Hills; his step-niece, Julie Tyrone Cavallaro of Hoboken; and his girlfriend, Tina Leger of Far Hills and her daughters, Dana, Danielle and Donna.

A visitation will be held at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Sunday, October 30 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.  A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 3:00pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
