Richard A. Medina, M.D., 68, of Bernardsville passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at his home.

He was born in the Bronx, NY and had lived in Basking Ridge before moving to Bernardsville in 1990.

Dr. Medina completed his undergraduate studies at Columbia University.  He completed his medical studies at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark from 1983 to 1988 when he became a licensed gastroenterologist.

Dr. Medina maintained a private gastroenterology practice in Edison from 1988 to 2016 when he joined Hackensack Meridian Health – JFK University Medical Center as a gastroenterologist until the present.

Richard was a wine enthusiast who belonged to a wine club consisting of medical professionals.  He also enjoyed Formula One auto racing, and maintained an extensive stamp and model train collection.

Dr. Medina is survived by his wife of 39 years, Geri Medina; his mother and step father, Gloria and John Torres; and a sister, Diana Medina.

Funeral service at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Wednesday, February 19 at 11:00am.  Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.  Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions  may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
