Eleanor A. Castrilli, 90, of Basking Ridge passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025 at her home.

She was born in New York City, NY on October 28, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Mary Kontros Cholewinski.  She grew up in Clifton and had lived in Bernardsville for 55 years before moving to Basking Ridge 6 years ago.

Mrs. Castrilli was an administrative assistant employed by AT&T in Morristown for 10 years.  She also held various other jobs including working with an answering service and a real estate agency.

She was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bernardsville.  Eleanor enjoyed time spent at the library; traveling with her husband including several trips to Europe; and loved time spent with her grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Costantino Castrilli, who died March 6, 2019.

Mrs. Castrilli is survived by two daughters, Michelle Davis and her husband, Dan, of Phillipsburg and Cheryl-Ann Crist and her husband, Brian, of Jackson, TN; a son, Paul Castrilli and his companion, Donna Judd, of Plymouth, MI; a brother, Richard Cholewinski of Cummin, GA; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Hannah, Rachel and Natalie; and 6 great grandchildren, Adelyn, Noah, Violet, Lydia, Diehlia and Sylvia.

Funeral gathering at Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Thursday, October 30 at 9:00am followed by a mass at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 111 Claremont Road, Bernardsville at 10:00am.  Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.  Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or at stjude.org.  The family extends a very special thanks to all of her friends at Countryside Manor for their love and care of Eleanor.
