Edward J. Russo, 69, of Bedminster passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at his home with family by his side.

He was born in Somerville on December 29, 1955, a son of the late James V. and Marguerite “Jane” Deck Russo.  He was a lifelong resident of Bedminster except for a few years spent in Peapack.

Ed was a 1974 graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville where he was the captain of the championship varsity  football team.

Ed was a union laborer having been employed by New Jersey Buildings Laborers’ Union Local No. 593 of Jersey City for 40 years retiring in 2014.

He had a strong work ethic and was proud of his membership with the Laborers’ Union.  He was a member of the former Elks Lodge in Peapack.  Ed enjoyed hometown life in Bedminster, time spent with friends and family, and especially his relationship with his former dog companion, Coke.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, James F. Russo, who died December 23, 2004.

Mr. Russo is survived by a sister, Diane M. Russo of Starks, ME; 3 brothers, Robert G. Russo of Millerton, NY, Jeffrey R. Russo and his wife, Karen, of Flemington and Michael S. Russo and his wife, Mary, of Bedminster; 3 nephews, Timothy, Alexander and Brandon Russo; and his ‘adopted” family, Liza, Tess, Kyle and Sean Howland.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 375 Kings Highway North, Suite B, Cherry Hill, NJ  08034 or at www.mymsaa.org.  Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.
