Donald W. Suiter, 86, of Alpha passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at his home.

He was born in Stirling on August 11, 1938, one of six children to John and Sally Koish Suiter.  He had resided in Basking Ridge before moving to Alpha in 2004.

Donald was a 1957 graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville.

He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War having served from 1957 to 1961 aboard the USS Newport News.

Mr. Suiter was a tool and dye maker employed by Mirco Stamping Company in Somerset for many years retiring in 1999.  He previously worked at General Electric in Springfield.

Don enjoyed traveling to Wildwood, fishing, woodworking and antique cars.  He was a life member of the US Cruisers Association, a member of American Legion Post No. 446 in Alpha, and a member of the Stirling Elks Lodge No. 2392.

He was predeceased by his wife, Alberta A. Gordon Suiter, who died November 15, 2023; by a step-son, Bruce Morrell; and by three siblings, Joan Echart, John Suiter and Lawrence Suiter.

Mr. Suiter is survived by a step-daughter, Lisa A. Rapone of Union; 2 step-sons, Scott Morrell of Alpha and Robert A. Rapone of Alpha; 2 sisters, Jean Milito of Liberty Corner and Doris Tipton of Southwick, MA; 2 step-grandchildren, Jessica Faas and Casey Rapone; and 2 step-great grandchildren, Stella and Abigail Faas.

Funeral service at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Thursday, August 29 at 11:00am.  Interment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.  Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Jersey State Elks Special Children’s Committee, 665 Rahway Avenue, P.O.
