David B. Toland, 72, of Budd Lake passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown.

He was born in Newark on November 26, 1952, a son of the late Nathan and Betty Jean Lynch Toland.  He grew up in Califon and had lived in Budd Lake for the past 25 years.

David was a 1970 graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School in Clinton Township.

He was a meter reader employed by Mt. Olive Township Water Department for 10 years retiring in 2021.

David was a classic car enthusiast having owned several classic cars and was a member of several classic car organizations including the Unforgetable Auto of New Jersey, the Chrysler Automobile Club and the Slant Six Club.  David loved rock and roll music and maintained a collection of over 250,000 vinyl records.  He also had a passion for collecting and restoring jukeboxes, slot machines and pinball machines.  Animals of all varieties also maintained a special place in his heart.

David was a member of the Mt. Olive Township Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Imelda Barnes Toland; his two cats, Meaghan and Tammy; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Mylinki of Pittstown, Valerie Barnes of Bernardsville and Pat Mueller of Phillipsburg; and a niece, Patricia Mueller of Dallas, TX.

A funeral service followed by entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, 145 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge on Saturday, September 6 at 10:00am.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to one’s favorite animal charity.  Arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster.
