William McKay Creelman, 93, of Bedminster passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Morristown on February 15, 1929, to the late John and Catherine McKay Creelman. After spending his early childhood years in Mendham, he lived the balance of his life in Far Hills and Bedminster.
He was a 1946 graduate of Bernards High School, after which he served in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Upon returning home from the service, he attended Newark College of Engineering and received his degree in electrical engineering in 1958.
Bill was employed by Lockheed Electronics in North Plainfield as an electrical engineer for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
He served on the Far Hills Board of Education and the Far Hills Borough Planning Board. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf at the Green Knoll Golf Course and also competed in a bowling league with co-workers.
He is predeceased by his wife, Lois J. Pellath Creelman, who died June 2, 1993; and by two brothers, John “Jack” Creelman and Alan Creelman.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Debra J. Lumia of Sumter, SC and Judy L. Creelman of Bedminster, a son, Thomas W. Creelman and his wife, Carol, of High Bridge; four grandchildren, Dominic, Samantha and her husband, Jonathan, Joshua and Ian; and five great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Wednesday, June 29 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. A funeral service will take place at 6:00pm on Wednesday during the visiting hours. A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Creelman residence on Saturday, July 2 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. A private cremation and interment of cremains will be held at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge at a later date.
