Charles T. Jaquis, 83, of Harmony Township passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Luke’s – Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg.
He was born in Liberty Corner on September 14, 1940, a son of the late Floyd E. and Beatrice Fanning Jaquis. He grew up in Liberty Corner and lived in Bedminster and Long Valley before moving to Harmony Township 11 years ago.
He was a graduate of Bernards High School in Bernardsville.
He was a US Army veteran stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington from 1962 to 1965.
Church owned and operated C T Jaquis Builders in Bedminster for 40 years helping to build homes and renting construction equipment in Bedminster, Clinton, Oxford and other towns throughout New Jersey before retiring in 2002.
He was a former member of Ironia Fire Department.
Chuck was an avid hunter who shot six deer at the age of 83. He was an avid car enthusiast, who frequented car shows especially corvette car shows. He found immense joy hitting the open road with his beloved wife by his side cruising in his cherished 1988 Corvette Convertible. He maintained a large collection of 1/18 scale vintage metal cars and enjoyed restoring his 1995 Ford Bronco. Chuck loved country music, enjoyed deep sea fishing with his daughter, and was an avid gardener with a nurturing touch, who took immense pride in growing breathtaking dahlia blooms he meticulously nurtured each season. He was known for handing out lollipops to the kids on the street who loved to stop by for their treats.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet Miller Jaquis; his daughter, Jessica Jaquis and her loving companion, Bjorn Fecher; and his granddaughter, Brooklyn Hailey Fecher, all of Long Valley.
Funeral service at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Bedminster on Friday, May 17 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
